Common Sense, Sales, and Content Marketing

This article by Mike Anderson rehashes a universal truth that’s always good to keep in mind: common sense is not common for everyone. Specifically, he uses the analogy of his first experience of being a copywriter and learning that not everyone finds it so easy to “build an idea.”

Draw this observation back to content marketing and what it means for a large majority of businesses who are out there: jaw-dropping, fresh, creative content content on a regular basis is unlikely to be in the cards. Which means one of two implications (or both actually), for curation headed into the future: 1) People are going to increasingly need curation as a means to join the conversation and offer their thoughts on those that came up with a lot of the ideas; 2) People are going to increasingly need curation as a mean to sort through all of the content from writers challenged with building a unique idea.

“Life is so much easier when you build an idea. People fall in love with the idea, and the advertising medium sells itself.” He explained that not everyone finds it so easy to “build an idea.”
